Dan Rothem is the CEO of Commanders for Israel’s Security (CIS), a non-partisan movement comprising the overwhelming majority of available retired IDF generals and their Mossad, Shin Bet (Security Agency) and Police equivalents, working to promote a two-state solution as part of a regional framework.

Dan is also a Senior Policy Advisor at the The Herbert C. Kelman Institute for Interactive Conflict Transformation (HKI), where he works on peacemaking across world views, including with national-religious constituencies.

Previously, Dan has served as a consultant for the S. Daniel Abraham Center for Middle East Peace, where he developed an extensive interactive map database that allows decision-makers precise and instant analysis of territorial dynamics and borders proposals.

Dan’s work on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict focuses on the peace process with a special emphasis on the U.S. role. He has advised Israeli, Palestinian, U.S. , European and other officials at the highest levels on matters related to the process: political, territorial, and socio-psychological. Dan has also been involved in a range of track II efforts related to these issues.

Dan is based full-time in Israel, where he completed his three-year service with the Israel Defense Forces in 1997. He has a BA in Journalism from Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, N.C., and an MA in Government from the Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) in Herzliya.
