A community activist by nature, David Friedland has been the Associate Director of Government Relations at the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA), the advocacy agent for the Jewish Federations of Canada for the past year. His role includes working closely with the national Liberal Caucus and the Liberal Party of Canada, directing the political engagement strategies for the provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan, and assisting on the Canada-Israel bilateral innovation relationship. 

David grew up in Edmonton and was actively involved in multiple aspects of student leadership while completing his degree at the Alberta School of Business. 

Prior to joining CIJA, he worked in all three levels of the Canadian government, gaining experiences in the fields of stakeholder relations, operations, and communications. He’s passionate about LGBTQ2+ community-building, exploring different parts of Canada, and finding the best local coffee and bagel shops in town.
