Evan Karlik (Washington, DC) is an aerospace engineering duty officer in the U.S. Navy, currently assigned to the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program office. He began his military career as a P-3 Orion maritime patrol pilot, stationed in Hawaii. In 2018, Evan served as a Defense Fellow in the U.S. House of Representatives. He was recently selected as a Penn Kemble Forum Fellow by the National Endowment for Democracy. While an undergraduate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, he participated in research projects at Israel’s Weizmann Institute and at the Technion. Evan also holds graduate degrees from Stanford University and the University of Maryland School of Public Policy. His foreign policy writing has been published by Nikkei Asian Review, The Diplomat, Maritime Executive, the Australian Strategic Policy Institute, and the Center for International Maritime Security.
