
Yos Tarshish is Director of Queen’s Hillel based in Kingston, Ontario, where he brings a decade of experience driving innovation and change in Jewish student communities around the world to his work at Hillel. Yos grew up in the UK and held numerous youth leadership roles throughout the community including a year serving as President of the Union of Jewish Students of the UK & Ireland. After making aliyah, Yos joined the World Union of Jewish Students, first as Projects Director and then as International President and CEO. In 2018 he relocated to Canada to work for Hillel Ontario, initially as Assistant Director of Western Hillel before moving over to Queen’s in 2020. Outside of his work with Hillel Yos loves to travel and see the world and has been to more than 25 countries including trips to visit Jewish student communities on every continent. He is passionate about social activism, building inclusive Jewish communities, Jewish peoplehood and advocating for democratic values in Israel. He holds a BA (Hons) in Youth & Community Studies from Manchester Metropolitan University and is an alumnus of several community leadership programs. Yos has been active with IPF Atid since joining the Charles Bronfman Convener’s program in 2020 and he is a Trustee-at-Large of Kingston’s Beth Israel Congregation where he loves leading services and connecting with the city’s vibrant Jewish community beyond campus. Yos previously served as Vice-President of the World Jewish Congress, a Presidium Member of the World Zionist Organisation and on the Directorate of KKL-JNF.
