Israel Policy Forum is thrilled to celebrate the leadership of Alisa F. Levin during our annual tribute event being held at The Yale Club of New York City this year, on December 8, 2021, from 11:45am-2:15pm EST.

Laura E. Adkins

Opinion Editor, The Forward

Laura E. Adkins is an award-winning writer, editor, and speaker based in New York. She is the opinion editor of the Forward and an adjunct professor of journalism at Yeshiva University’s Stern College for Women. Laura’s writing on antisemitism, Orthodox Judaism, data, and gender has appeared in The Los Angeles Review of Books, The Washington Post, Glamour, and other outlets. She was previously the opinion editor of The Jewish Telegraphic Agency, the editor of Jewish Insider, and an assistant blogs editor at The Times of Israel.

Yona Shem Tov

Chief Executive Officer, Encounter

Yona has worked as a Jewish educator for over 20 years. Prior to joining Encounter in 2011, Yona pursued grad­uate studies at The Hebrew University and doctoral research in Education and Jewish Studies at New York University as a Wexner Graduate Fellow. While at NYU, she co-founded a national program linking scholars and prac­titioners of Jewish history education, and helped launch the Ariane de Rothschild Fellowship—an initia­tive of the Edmond de Rothschild Foundation linking Muslim and Jewish social entre­pre­neurs from France, the UK, and the U.S.

Michael Koplow

Chief Policy Officer, Israel Policy Forum

Michael Koplow is the chief policy officer of Israel Policy Forum, and also serves as a senior research fellow of the Kogod Research Center at the Shalom Hartman Institute of North America. Before coming to Israel Policy Forum, he was the founding program director of the Israel Institute. Michael holds a Ph.D. in Government from Georgetown University, where he specialized in political development and ideology and the politics of Middle Eastern states. He writes Israel Policy Forum’s weekly Koplow Column and edits the Israel Policy Exchange, which is a leading source for commentary and analysis on Israel and American Jewry, and his work regularly appears in Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy, The Atlantic, and The Forward, among other publications. In addition to his Ph.D., he holds a B.A. from Brandeis University, a J.D. from New York University, and an A.M. in Middle Eastern Studies from Harvard University.

2021 Honoree

Alisa F. Levin

Alisa F. Levin currently serves as Secretary of the Board of Directors of Israel Policy Forum. She also chairs the Communications Committee, where she has led the formulation of Israel Policy Forum’s key messaging and brand identity in furtherance of our mission to build support among American Jewish leaders and US policymakers for the realization of a viable two-state solution that would ensure Israel’s security. Alisa has held numerous leadership positions at the UJA-Federation of NY, including Chair of the Annual Campaign and Chair of the Commission on the Jewish People. She now chairs the International Planning and Allocations Committee. Alisa’s involvement in the Jewish community also includes positions on the Executive Committee of the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York and the Board of Directors of Honeymoon Israel. Alisa is a graduate of the Joint Program between Columbia University and the Jewish Theological Seminary and St. John’s University Law School, where she was Editor in Chief of the Law Review.

Alisa is co-founder of the market-leading boutique legal search firm, Greene-Levin- Snyder, and she specializes in partner and senior-level searches. Prior to founding the firm, Alisa was a bankruptcy and restructuring lawyer at Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton and White & Case. She began her legal career as a law clerk to Chief Judge Charles D. Breitel of the New York Court of Appeals.

Alisa is dedicated to Brooklyn. She was on the board of Congregation Beth Elohim in Park Slope, and her many civic involvements include serving as the inaugural co-chair of the Artists’ Circle campaign at the Brooklyn Academy of Music and as founder of the Lawyer Partnership at the Brooklyn Bureau of Community Service. An avid supporter and life trustee of the Berkeley Carroll School, Alisa was president of its board for five years. Alisa lives in Park Slope, Brooklyn with her husband, Charles Nathan.
