Tom Kahn is a board member of Israel Policy Forum.He is also a past President of AJC Washington and was a Sholom Comay Fellow. After a career of more than 30 years as a senior Congressional staffer, Tom left Capitol Hill to become director of legislative affairs for the American Federation of Government Employees which is part of the AFL-CIO. Before going to Capitol Hill, he was a corporate attorney for Sullivan & Cromwell in New York. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and has served with international organizations as an election observer and election consultant in Russia, Bulgaria, El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras. He is also a member of the AJC Board of Governors and the immediate past chair of AJC’s Institute for Latino and Latin American Affairs and currently serves on the National Policy Steering Committee. He and his wife, Susana Schwartz, are the proud parents of two sons. Tom graduated magna cum laude from Tufts University and Georgetown University Law Center, where he served as an editor of the Georgetown Law Journal. He also studied at the University of Leningrad and is fluent in Russian.
