Ibrahim Eid Dalalsha (Director, Horizon Center for Political Studies and Media Outreach) and Amos Harel (Military Correspondent, Haaretz) unpack the state of the security situation in the West Bank with Shira Efron (Diane and Guilford Glazer Foundation Director of Policy Research, Israel Policy Forum).
Violence is on the rise in the West Bank. As the Palestinian Authority Security Forces have become increasingly absent in the northern West Bank and Israel steps up its Area A incursions, cities like Jenin and Nablus have become regular sites of clashes between Israeli forces and Palestinian militants—a development that could have a detrimental impact on West Bank security. Just last week, a gunfight that killed an Israeli officer and two Palestinian militants prompted Israel to shut down two West Bank checkpoints (which have since been reopened) and suspend the Israeli work permits of all Kafr Dan residents. Killings of Palestinians and terror attacks against Israelis in the West Bank are both on the rise.
