We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Shira Efron has begun a new full-time role as Director of Research at Israel Policy Forum. In this position, she will oversee the organization’s policy research focused on U.S. Middle East policy with the aim of promoting a peaceful resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Based in Israel, Shira has a longtime affiliation with Israel Policy Forum, having previously served as a policy advisor. In this capacity, she co-authored numerous policy reports, including The New Normal, which studied Arab-Israeli normalization, and In Search of a Viable Option, examining various plans for resolving the conflict

A renowned analyst on Israeli-Palestinian, U.S.-Israel, and Middle East policy, Shira serves concurrently as a senior fellow at Israel’s Institute for National Security Studies, a consultant with the U.N. country team in Jerusalem advising on Gaza access issues, and co-chair of the subgroup on national security and regional cooperation of the President’s Israeli Climate Change Forum. She is also a member of the board of directors of Deborah Forum, which promotes women in the security establishment. Previously, she was the RAND Corporation’s researcher and special advisor on Israel.

Shira is a frequent guest on Israel Policy Pod and Israel Policy Briefings, and a contributor to Israel Policy Exchange. As Director of Research, she will continue to spearhead in-depth, timely research initiatives as a member of our policy team.

We look forward to working with Shira in continuing to provide expert analysis on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict while dedicating more time and resources to research as she takes on this new role.
