Israel Policy Forum welcomes today’s meeting between President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Naftali Bennett. In particular, we are encouraged by the discussion of the importance of Israel’s security and the need to promote the freedom, dignity, and well-being of Israelis and Palestinians. We hope that this meeting marks the beginning of a productive chapter in the relationship between the United States and Israel, characterized by the pursuit of mutual interests and bipartisan support. Prime Minister Bennett’s recent comments affirming that he will not pursue West Bank annexation and indicating his government’s openness to rebuilding ties with the Palestinian Authority are encouraging. We now call upon both sides to identify specific, concrete policy measures that will improve the reality on the ground and preserve the possibility for a future two-state outcome to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
