IPF strongly condemns yesterday’s outburst of terrorist attacks in Israel, which included shootings and stabbings in Jerusalem, Petah Tikva, and Jaffa. There is never any justification to deliberately target civilians, and yesterday’s victims were guilty of doing nothing other than going about their daily routines. The slaying of U.S. citizen, army veteran, and business school student Taylor Force, who represented the best of what the United States has to offer to the world, demonstrates the depths of the senselessness and inhumanity of ongoing Palestinian attacks. Terrorism will not provide Palestinians with a better future nor bring about a Palestinian state, and attacks designed to do nothing other than kill and maim civilians cast grave doubts on whether Palestinians are able to assume the responsibilities of peacefully living in a state side by side with Israel. We further condemn the failure of Mahmoud Abbas and the Palestinian leadership to speak out against Palestinian terrorism, and we urge the Palestinian Authority to do all it can to create an atmosphere in which terrorism against Israelis is shunned rather than celebrated. Terrorist attacks targeting Israelis only set back the cause of peace and further prevent a just resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
